Welcome to my website! My name is Daniel Otero Prol and I’m a telecommunications engineer and videogame programmer. Currently, I’m working as Engine Programmer at Smilegate Barcelona, where we are building a studio from scratch and working on an exciting new game.
I consider myself a highly motivated and hard-working person, always striving to improve my skills and learn new things. My main focus always has been game porting, engine and code optimization but I’m also interested in exploring other areas such as networking, AI, and rendering.

In my previous playthroughs as a game developer…
Software Engineer at CARLA
I had the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge open-source simulator for autonomous driving research made on Unreal Engine. I helped to improve the overall performance of the platform and collaborated with the team to develop new features.

Freelance Software Engineer
I worked as a freelance software engineer mainly collaborating with Parallel Circles and ported A Place For The Unwilling to various platforms all by myself, including Nintendo Switch, PS4, XBO, and Stadia.

Software Engineer at BlitWorks
During my time at BlitWorks, I contributed to ports like:
- Don’t Starve mainly for Android and IOS but I was also supporting Switch, PS4, and XBO.
- Fight’N Rage for Nintendo Switch.
- Braid Anniversary Edition for Linux and Mac.

Generalist Programmer on Fuel Renegades
In my time as a student at ESAT, I was able to publish Fuel Renegades, a cooperative and multiplayer racing game made by a group of students. It was an amazing experience that not only taught me valuable lessons about game development and technology but also about the importance of teamwork and collaboration. We won a couple of awards given by the Student Game Contest including Best Technology and Second Best Game of the competition.
Wow, you made it this far! You deserve an achievement! Thank you so much for visiting my website. If you have any questions or would like to collaborate on a project, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
